[Learn Why]
We provide the public an informative, authoritative, and credible resource for understanding cellulite and its treatment. There are so many products and devices which claim to “improve” or “reduce” cellulite it is very difficult to know what is truly helpful. As a Patient’s Guide® website, we are committed to the highest standards of medical accuracy and review.

Liposonix

Still in clinical trials and not yet approved by the FDA in the US, LipoSonix attacks fat cells with non-invasive high-intensity focused ultrasound. Some associated reduction in cellulite may be possible, though we are still developing these technologies. The emulsified fat is then engulfed by macrophage cells (scavenger-like cells that ingest foreign substances). Eventually, the fat makes its way out of the body along with other waste products.

Reportedly, LipSonix’s ultrasound waves destroy unwanted fat at depths of an inch or so without damaging the skin’s epidermis, or outer layer. By shrinking fat, LipoSonix could conceivably also reduce the appearance of cellulite, though cellulite is still one of the more difficult conditions to treat today.
