Buttock Lift or Thighplasty

  • The Buttocks Lift Procedure
  • Significant Downtime
  • A buttocks lift (called thighplasty) is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat and skin from around the hip area. By removing some of the excess skin, this may reduce the appearance of cellulite around the buttocks. The result: tighter, smaller, reduced-cellulite thighs and buttocks. To enhance its effects, a buttocks lift is usually done in conjunction with liposuction.

There are many different ways of performing a buttocks lift. Your surgeon will help you select the method that’s right for you. Factors to consider include your body shape, your age and general health, and the extent of skin and fat to be removed.

    The Buttocks Lift Procedure

The surgery, which can take 3 to 6 hours, is usually performed under general anesthesia in either an outpatient surgery center or a hospital. The size and location of the incision will depend on a variety of individualized factors, including your lifestyle. A skilled surgeon can usually place the incision so that its resulting scar will be undetectable under most clothing. Discuss all options with your physician.

    Significant Downtime

The Buttocks Lift/Thighplasty surgery can take several hours. Afterward, your surgeon will cover the incision with a sterile dressing and give you a compression garment to wear. This garment will keep your skin in place and help speed your recovery. Most people find it a bit painful to sit down for several weeks, and full recover generally takes 4 to 6 months. It may be 3 months before you can return to a fully active lifestyle.
